Saturday, October 1, 2016, 9am – 12pm

The Bermuda National Gallery invites all educators to attend the BNG Docent Training on Saturday, October 1st.

Running from 9am until 12pm, this BNG Professional Development workshop will focus on Inquiry-Based-Learning and the current art exhibitions: Staging Mary Prince: in her own words by international artist Joscelyn Gardner, and the 2016 Bermuda Biennial: Memories of the Present.

The BNG will use the ‘See, Think, Wonder’ strategy showing teachers how to use art as inspiration to deliver numeracy, literacy, politics and social issues. The workshop will encourage teachers of all year levels to learn how to deliver and link art with other subjects and classroom curriculum.
Activities in the workshop will include a “See, Think, Wonder” session with 1-2 artworks followed by a reading and writing passage on Mary Prince and then a debate on contemporary social issues revolved around the 2016 Bermuda Biennial theme Memories of the Present.

The cost is $5.

For more information, or to rsvp, contact Dany Pen at education@bng.com or 295-9428.
