The October edition of the monthly Ciné Club from L’Alliance Française des Bermudes will be showing Demain (Tomorrow) on Tuesday, October 4th.
Screening in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI, this French documentary with English subtitles is from Directors Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent, with Anthony Barnosky, Olivier De Schutter and Cyril Dion.
Demain won the 2016 César Award for Best Documentary Film. Although the film addresses an uncertain future under climate change, it has the distinction of not giving in to catastrophism. Optimistically, it identifies initiatives that have proven themselves in ten countries around the world: concrete examples of solutions to environmental and social challenges of the twenty-first century, be it agriculture, energy, economy, education and governance.
All members of the public are welcome. This month's film is under the patronage of the The Honourable Minister of the Environment, Cole Simons and Mrs. Simons.
At 7.15pm there will be a introduction to the movie by Mel Ferson of BUEI, and Dimitri Despierres of Oracle Team USA. The movie itself will screen at 7.30pm and will have a running time of around 2 hours.
Ticket holders are also entitled to 10% off at Harbourfront (food only) - please mention the lecture when booking to avail of the discount and note that it cannot be combined with any other special offers. For dinner reservations call 295-4207.
Tickets cost $15 for AF/BUEI members, $10 for students, and $20 for non-members.
Tickets can be purchased from Oceans Gift Shop at BUEI on the night or in advance on 294-0204.
