Promising to be a signature game-changer for the success of black males in education – in Bermuda and in the western hemisphere - the Fifth Annual International Colloquium on Black Males in Education will run from Tuesday, October 4th until Friday, October 7th.
This event will take place at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel with approximately 200 persons flying in, in addition to at least as many local attendees and presenters, including BC’s own Cordell Riley.
The theme for the Colloquium, Educational Transitions and Life Trajectories: Bridging Pathways to Success for Black Males. Don’t let the fancy theme confuse you - basically, the Colloquium will be examining educational issues across the educational spectrum – from pre-kindergarten through university – affecting the experiences of Black males. It’s been a hot topic for years… so is it a pipe dream? Or can a pipeline of hope be constructed to bridge the gaping divide?
Colloquium Day 1 on Wednesday, October 5th will run from 8am until 5.30pm, Colloquium Day 2 on Thursday, October 6th will run from 8am until 4pm, Colloquium Day 3 on Friday, October 7th will run from 8am until 5pm,
Full registration for international attendees costs $495 and can be completed online on www.GlobalColloquium.org. If you are interested in attending specific Colloquium events, contact icbme@wcer.wisc.edu. For locals, the cost is $50 each day for Wednesday to Friday and includes lunch.
In addition to the main Colloquium at Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda College will also be hosting the free public forum Colloquium Conversations from 6.30pm until 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 4th.
