Narcotics Anonymous (Open Meeting)

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a support group for addicts.

The primary message of Narcotics Anonymous is that any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use, and find a new and better way to live through applying the NA program in daily life. The name "Narcotics Anonymous" is not meant to imply a focus on any particular drug or group of drugs. The NA program makes no distinction between drugs (including alcohol).

While NA meetings are held in various locations, NA is not affiliated in any way with any facility or other organization. Closed meetings are for addicts only and Open meetings are open to those wanting to learn about that NA Fellowship. Non-addicts attending Open meetings are welcome to listen but only addicts my share/speak during any NA meeting. All NA meetings are non-smoking/eating.

7.00 – 8.30pm OPEN

No Pulse, Just God: Benefit Concert - March 17th

A group of Christians and community helpers have put aside all differences to help raise money for our government primary and middle schools at their first annual No Pulse, Just God: Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 17th.

Blaming one another for the things we can change is useless and only divides us. Right now, our schools don’t have funding to fix classrooms, pass health regulations, fix facilities, fund workshops, take children on field trips, or have money to get supplies to help with day-to-day lessons. The title No Pulse, Just God comes from the idea that when we do things for the sole purpose to do God’s will, we are no longer just a human with a pulse breathing the air he gives to us; we are one with God.

From 6.30pm at First Church of God on North Shore, performers will include church members from.different denominations throughout the island including some pastors as well as people in the community from throughout the island as well as special guests.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, free for under 5s, and are available from the main office at the church.

For more information, contact 703-2771 or nopulsejustgod@gmail.com.

Shepard Fairey: Rebel With A Cause at BNG

In recognition of International Peace Day, the Bermuda National Gallery invites you to join them for a very special art experience as they open their new exhibit Shepard Fairey: Rebel With A Cause on Thursday, September 21st.

Shepard Fairey is described as a “street artist” whose artwork advocates for the protection of human rights, from the abuse of political power and militarism to the support for minorities and gender equity.Fairey’s major works are filled with metaphors about peace, anti-war political propaganda, and visual contradictions between tenderness and harsh reality. He is an artist who has successfully merged social activism and artistic expression. This exhibition is an opportunity to continue the discussion about art and activism, presented in the current exhibition The Power of Art, and to make relevant links across disciplines, including modern world history, media studies, environmental science, politics, and popular culture.

Opening hours are from 10am until 4pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10am until 2pm on Saturdays, closed on public holidays. This exhibition will run until further notice.

Admission is $5 for adults and free for BNG members, NARM members, seniors and students. BNG values the community and is offering free admission from September 21st to September 23rd, in recognition of International Peace Day.
